A new structure for the

Havening Techniques Training

The traditional Havening Training is an intensive weekend course that combines a great deal of scientific theory with practical teaching and experiential learning. The foundation of Havening is a very detailed scientific account of the neural mechanisms of traumatic encoding - right down to molecular levels - and how Havening Techniques can rapidly reverse this process, thus relieving the burden of traumatic memories.

A thorough understanding of this science is necessary to guide our practice with clients. In addition, there are a wide range of Havening Protocols and practical skills to be learned. To cover all of this in one weekend course is an ambitious task, which does not allow for adequate time to demonstrate and practice the techniques. The feedback from previous course participants is that they would appreciate more time for practical demonstrations and hand-on practice.

Impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic

With the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, most trainers have been unable to host in-person training courses. Therefore, almost all the Havening Training Courses have been taken online, delivered by Zoom video meeting. This approach further adds to the challenge of training but has also opened up new opportunities.

Here in New Zealand, we are fortunate to have rapidly eliminated the Coronavirus from our community and we have been able to host in-person training courses. To maximise this opportunity, I have made the decision to take the best of both worlds and to combine online with in-person training.

Online learning plus in-person weekend course

I have taken all of the extensive science training out of the weekend course and present it here in a guided self-learning program. You must complete this online program before attending the weekend practical training. The science aspects directly relevant to daily practice will be briefly revised in the weekend course so that you can integrate your theoretical and practical knowledge.

Learn at your own pace

Among your fellow trainees are people with a wide variety of backgrounds from therapists to neuroscientists. Some have extensive knowledge of biological science and others have very little. This online program will allow you to learn at your own pace, and also test your knowledge. I have a gift for using everyday examples to explain complex science, starting with high-level concepts and gradually adding detail to your knowledge. Those with a science background can whiz quickly though the course, while still marvelling at the remarkable breakthroughs in our understanding of trauma.

Seeing how the science and practice fit together

Early in the course I show a brief video of a real Havening session, which shows just how remarkable these techniques are. The client had been haunted by the memory of a very traumatic event, twenty years before, when held-up at gunpoint in South Africa. In less than fifteen minutes, the entire trauma is erased from her brain. In this course, you will learn what was happening in the client's brain during the healing process and the physiology of the techniques. The visible changes in the client will bring the science to life.

The Havening Science Exam

If you decide to become a Certified Havening Practitioner, one of the requirements is to complete a simple online multiple-choice exam, the 'Science Review'. This is an open-book exam that allows you to look up the answers as you answer the questions. What we are testing is comprehension, not recall of facts. To assist you in passing this exam, each section of this course is followed by a simple quiz, which relates to the questions you will find in the Science Review.

How to enrol

If you are new to Havening, to enrol in this course you must Register for a Havening Techniques Training Course, either with myself of one of the other trainers who chooses to use this science introduction. The Havening training combines this online course with a weekend practical training.

If you have registered for my training course, I have an all-in-one price so I will send you a voucher to give you free access to this course.

If you have registered for training with another Havening Trainer, you must pay the fee.

Anyone in the world who has completed a Havening Training course and is working towards Certification can also obtain a voucher for free access, within the Resource Library on the Havening Portal.

Online registration plus all information about my Havening training is found on my website here.
